The Somerdale Police Department has current openings for Class I Special Officers. Officers receive valuable hands on training. Officers do not carry a weapon and assist the department with many town functions and events. Officers can be certified for parking enforcement. The Somerdale Police Department has current openings for Substitute Crossing Guard. Interested residents receive the necessary hands on training for the assistance and protection on our children while walking to school. Those interested in a position with our department may pick up an application from the department secretary Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm.

TRAINING
‍The Training Unit supplies both in-service and specialized training to the officers of the department. This includes firearms and tactical training. All officers are required to complete in-service training each year as well as specialized training in areas including, firearms, simulated firearms, active shooter, and legal updates. All outside training is coordinated through the training unit. Chief James Walsh is the training coordinator for all training within the department.
